Well, that was a weekend to remember in the NFL. The games that took place across the country last weekend did not disappoint. Here we will bring you the headlines from the most notable games and talk about how that impacts the standings after eight games played.
There is plenty more action to enjoy this coming weekend, but first, let’s review what happened in the top five games just passed.
The 49ers swept aside the Panthers to remain undefeated in the NFL this term after eight games. Their offense was on fire, with running back Tevin Coleman causing all kinds of problems and scoring four touchdowns.
The 49ers defense did a fantastic job, making it a day to forget for the Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen. Their season is looking like one that could end in postseason glory at this stage.
In week 9, the 49ers will aim to keep their record on the road against the Cardinals. We predict they will win that game. The Panthers have a home game playing host to the Titans, in a tricky match to make a call.
The current Super Bowl holders are the sort of team you need to be at your best against. Unfortunately for the Browns, their performance allowed the Patriots to take advantage. The contest was pretty much over after a shocking first quarter in the pouring rain.
The Browns gave away three turnovers, and despite a spirited fightback toward the end, they never recovered. The pressure is on the Browns to make the playoffs now, even at this early stage.
Next up for the Patriots is a tricky visit to the M&T Bank Stadium to face the Ravens. This game will be tight, and we predict a low scoring affair. The Browns will head to Denver to play the Broncos, and we are backing them for the win.
It was always going to be a big ask for the Chiefs to win this game, particularly in the absence of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. They didn’t make it easy for the Packers, though putting in a spirited performance.
It took a wonder throw from MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers to win the game for the Green Bay boys. Aaron Jones put in his performance of the season, picking up seven catches.
The Packers have to pay a visit to LA to face the Chargers, and they should add an eighth win to their record this season. The Chiefs will face the Vikings in a match too close to call at this stage.
The Falcons have had a torrid time so far this season and find themselves on a 1-7 record for 2019. They played a decent game in this one but could not get past the Seahawks.
The Seattle side will not be happy with their defense, and in truth, this could have turned into an embarrassing defeat. Russell Wilson saw his hopes of being named MVP take another knock as he put in a less than impressive performance.
The Falcons need to turn around their season fast, and the next game in week 10 against New Orleans is a massive test we say they will lose. The Seahawks need an improved performance if they want a win when they come up against the Buccaneers.
This victory for the Texans is of massive importance when looking at who can put together a run and make the playoffs. Deshaun Watson put in everything he had to keep the Texans on track.
He did make a mistake towards the end, but that can be forgiven as it didn’t cost them the game. The Raiders needed to win this matchup as it was neck and neck before the game started. They will have to win the next game to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Game week 9 will see the Texans play the Jaguars, and we can see them winning that one. The Raiders will face the Lions and should just about edge the victory.
