William Hill Review - New Jersey
William Hill has been a staple of sports betting in the UK since 1934, originally through its high-street betting shops and for the past two decades, its online operations as well.
They are the largest UK Operator, with a share of around 25% of the UK market and have been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2002.
They have been present in the USA as William Hill US since 2012, with a focus on retail and mobile operations in the state of Nevada. From there they operate 107 race and Sports Books and the state’s most popular sports betting app. It accounts for approximately half of all wagers placed with William Hill.
Following the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Murphy v National Collegiate Athletic Association in June 2018, effectively making it legal to bet on sports events in the state of New Jersey, it began operating from there as an online sportsbook
shortly after the decision was reached.
Their main focus in terms of betting markets offered are on the four major US sports of baseball, basketball, football and hockey, with particular emphasis on the handicap markets that have proved so popular with sports gamblers ever since betting on the outcome of sports events began.
That said, they haven’t forgotten about other sports that aren’t strictly limited to the US, such as soccer, tennis and golf. Whereas they don’t boast the never-ending offering of sports that some UK sportsbooks do, there’s more than enough there to keep your average US sports bettor very satisfied.
William Hill Ownership
William Hill US is owned by William Hill PLC and over the past few years has been forming plenty of partnerships in the US.
That includes working with a dozen casinos in Mississippi and West Virginia, the sports lottery in Delaware (as the exclusive risk manager) and in New Jersey by operating at the Monmouth Race Track and at the Ocean Resort Casino.
In addition, of course, to being a Sports Book provider in numerous Nevada casinos.
What Software is William Hill Run on?
The William Hill Sportsbook App uses proprietary software created by Computerised Bookmaking Systems, Inc. The only other sportsbook app to use a similar version of this software is NV Sports.
The app has been praised for: being quick, responsive and painless to use. And also for the clarity of the text on it, making it very easy to read.
There are two slight areas of improvement when it comes to the software. The first is that you need to sign in to the app every time you use it. Some other Sportsbook apps give you the choice to remain logged in at all times meaning that as soon as you open the app, you’re ready to start browsing lines, point spreads and odds and of course, actually place bets straight away. Here you may have to spend a couple of seconds logging in, by which time of course some of the odds may have changed when betting in-play.
The other is that you can’t use the app while your mobile device is being charged, such as to a computer or a wall charger.
Does William Hill Offer any Promotions on Sign Up?
"At the time of writing, no. However as recent as October 2018 William Hill offered New Jersey punters a 50 USD sign up bonus and it would be no surprise if they run similar promotions in future."

What Types of Markets are on Offer at William Hill?
On just about any sporting event offered at William Hill, you can bet on the straight winner. An example would be Team A or Team B in a baseball match or Team A, Team B or Draw in a soccer match.
You can also bet on the money line in any game, where a handicap is applied to the favourite, effectively making any match as close to a 50/50 shot as possible. Other handicaps are offered where the odds aren’t so close to even money and you can also bet on total points lines. Here William Hill will predict how any points will be scored in the match and you have to decide whether the points scored will go over or under that line.
But if the possibility of bigger returns from smaller investments are your thing, there’s also the option to place parlay bets. Here you put two or more selections from whatever sports or leagues you wish together and will have had a winning bet if they all come good. The odds of the parlay bet are worked out by multiplying the odds of all the different selections by one another.
Players should be aware that if a match you had as a selection is a rained off or tied (where you bet that one team or the other would win) that selection will be removed from the Parlay bet and all other selections stand.
Among the other types of bets are ‘futures’, where for example you can bet on who will the Superbowl, before the season has even started.
