NBA Weekly Games Preview: News and Predictions

Josh Cole    Josh Cole     November 22, 2019

It’s been another fantastic week of Basketball across the NBA, and we can’t wait to take in some more this weekend. It’s time to look ahead and see who’s in action for the next two days and which teams look like they could take a victory. The pressure is starting to build for the teams at the top of the standings, and each win matters. Let’s get into our picks for the matchups to come.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat

The 76ers have hit form again recently and come into this game off the back of two wins last week. They are up to the fifth spot in the NBA Eastern, and a victory here would see them make ground on the Heat in third place. They have nine wins and five defeats on their record after starting well in the NBA before their form dipped. It looks like they are over that setback now and come into this one full of confidence.

The Heat are flying and have taken a win in all four of their last NBA appearances. If they can beat the Bulls, then the pressure will be right back on the Celtics ahead of them as they have hit a bad patch over the last week. On the flip-side of the coin, defeat here would be a costly slip up for Miami. We predict them to run out of steam and lose to this dynamic 76ers side at the weekend.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. LA Lakers

A challenge may be an understatement for the prospect facing the Grizzlies this weekend. They are down to the eleventh position in the NBA Western after a shock defeat to the hapless Warriors. That was the first success of the season for the Golden State, and the Grizzlies should have taken advantage. Now they will face the Lakers, and nothing short of their very best form will be enough.

The Lakers lead the way in the NBA Western, and they have won their last five games on the bounce. This game comes after the second of the doubleheader with the Thunder. If they can win that, then they are cruising in the standings. The Lakers can’t afford to slip up in this one as the Nuggets are chasing hard behind them on a winning streak of their very own. We think the Lakers will have enough in this one, and we are backing them to win again.

LA Lakers to absolutely cruise to a win against the Memphis Grizzlies

Utah Jazz vs. New Orleans Pelicans

The Jazz have not been at their best over the last few appearances, and something has to change if they want to improve. The NBA season started positively for them, but during the previous two weeks, they have slipped up too often. This is the perfect game for them to get back on track, and the Pelicans are certainly not one of the best sides of the NBA this season. If Utah can find their level of three weeks ago, they should pass this test.

Although the Pelicans are not one of the top NBA sides, they have won their last three games on the trot. This is a different sort of challenge, and they will be hoping the Jazz are still misfiring when this battle gets started. A season record of 6-9 doesn’t sound terrible at this stage, but imagine if they hadn’t won the last three NBA appearances.

Utah Jazz should just about take this one

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Detroit Pistons

Overtaking the Celtics in the NBA Eastern would have looked like an unlikely shout two weeks ago, but that is what the Bucks have achieved. Their performance level has been fantastic, and the results are a perfect reward. They are now at 12-3 for the season, and every week they get better. If the Bucks can keep up this level of form, then you wouldn’t bet against them winning big, come the end of the season.

The Pistons have lost every one of their last five NBA games, and it doesn’t look like they have found an answer to their problems. The last time they tasted victory was when they faced the Knicks, and we all know the story of that team at the moment. They are the only side having a worse season in the NBA Eastern, and this will be another game of disappointment for Detroit.

Another game, another win for the Milwaukee Bucks. Should be an easy bet.

The Verdict

The NBA season this year is shaping up to be a classic, and as the season progresses, you can be sure of more twists to come. The four games selected represent the best of the action on offer this weekend. Check out the latest odds on the Money-Lines as these matchups approach. Don’t forget that we will be back again next week with the roundup of what went down across the NBA.
