Another week has passed, and the NHL games we experienced this weekend were full of breakneck action. There have been a few surprises over the last few head-to-heads. We have seen some of the form teams losing out to those with poor season records. As we look ahead, what will happen in the battles to come this week? We will touch on that, and more, in our NHL weekly roundup.
The Blackhawks are up to the fifth spot in the NHL Central after another impressive victory in this matchup. That was the fourth win in a row for Chicago. With so much Hockey still to come, they have hit the right kind of form at a perfect stage in the season. Two goals from Kirby Dach made the game straightforward for the Blackhawks, and in truth, they never looked like losing. Next up for Chicago is a challenging game against the Hurricanes, and we are backing them for a fifth straight win.
The Sabres have had a solid season so far in the NHL, with a decent record of 10-7-3 to their name. That leaves them in the fourth spot in the NHL Atlantic, and if they can bounce back from this loss, they will be in a strong position. This was a game that they never got into and will want to put behind them. The Sabres only goal of the game came in the fourth period, and the contest was already over by then. They will face the Wild this week, and that is a game they will surely win.
A whitewash is always fantastic, and scoring six in the opposition’s goal makes that feeling even better. It couldn’t have come at a better time for the Golden Knights as they entered this battle on the back of five straight defeats. The slide has stopped for Vegas, and they are still up in fourth in the NHL Pacific. Their next game will be against the Maple Leafs, and it should be another success.
This annihilation was the Flames fourth loss in a row, and the fans will be hoping this outing is as bad as it gets. Overall this season, they have an average record, with ten wins, ten defeats, and three overtime losses. It’s far from world-beating, though, and they need to improve quickly to keep in touch with the top. It doesn’t get any more straightforward for them next time out, and we are predicting another defeat against the Avalanche this week.
This was the game of the week for outstanding quality on both sides of the matchup. The Canucks have slipped in form recently, and although they couldn’t win this one, it was a far superior performance compared to their last outings. They are still up in third after 22 games in the NHL Pacific, which is a fantastic place to be after two straight defeats. They face the Stars next, and our money is on a revenge win for the loss against the same team two games ago.
The Avalanche needed this win, and it keeps them up in the second position in the NHL Central behind the Blues. They almost let it slip from their grasp after conceding two cheap goals in the final period, but Avalanche fans went home happy as they sealed another victory. The season record stands at 12-6-2, and they will play the Flames next. You know who we are backing already.

Another game, another win for the Penguins, and this was total domination. Dominik Kahun put on a fantastic display, scoring two goals and providing a classy assist for his side. It was a different player on the scoresheet for each of the other four scored, which shows you the strength across this Penguins team. Looking ahead to their next game, you could see them winning again as they play the Islanders in the game of the week.
The Maple Leafs never stood a chance in this one, and their disappointing season continues for yet another week. This was a performance that showed how far Toronto need to improve to challenge the better sides in the NHL. There can be no comfort from this kind of defeat. They need to get something out of the next tie when they face the Golden Knights, but we can’t see it happening.
