Admin    Admin     June 2, 2020

After the colossal success of UFC 249, the UFC has emerged from out of the shadows and is spearheading the sporting world. Amanda Nunes will be trading leather with Felicia Spencer in the women’s featherweight title fight at UFC 250’s main event, at the UFC Apex, Las Vegas this Saturday. The UFC 250 fight card is filled to the brim with some of the biggest names from the roster including the likes of bantamweight sensation Sean O’Malley, who announced his return to the UFC against Eddie Wineland. With the UFC leading the pack with all the sporting action, why not explore Bet Today USA’s UFC predictions, questions and exciting matchups below.

Main Event: Amanda Nunes Vs. Felicia Spencer

Amanda Nunes is set to defend the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship for the first time as she returns to the eight walls of death against an empathic Felicia Spencer. The featherweight battle was originally supposed to take place in the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil on May 9, but had to be shelved due to Nunes’ undisclosed injury.

This is the first fight at which Nunes will defend her strap, having won it by knocking out Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds at UFC 232. Nunes is considered by fight fans as the greatest woman to ever step into the Octagon and has won numerous accolades. ‘The Lioness’ has nothing left to accomplish besides shattering more records, and with a stagnant 160lb female featherweight division it seems that the Brazilian has little to no high caliber opposition. Nunes is a vicious striker and is frightening at range, she also is a true technical talent that works the angles in a fight.

Felicia Spencer has a strong background in martial arts and boasts a high percentage finish rate. There’s no chance in the fact that the Canadian has been handed a title shot with the elite skill set she’s bringing to the Octagon. The 29-year-old’s background is in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & kickboxing, her fighting style revolves around offensive wrestling and submission attempts. Spencer’s first six professional fights were a mixture of grappling masterclasses and technical knockouts from the ground.

The Canadian brawler is a menace when the fight gets moved to all fours on the canvass floor reigning down a barrage of strikes and elbow power to finish a fight. Spencer’s record speaks for itself (9-1) losing her only professional fight against the former pound for pound great, Cris Cyborg. There’s a visible pattern with Spencer’s success with her grappling offense. She knows how to handle herself on her feet but the Canadian excels on the ground and Nunes will be cautious of this. Nunes, on the other hand, is a champion for a reason and has so many dangerous elements to her fight game. The striking genius will look to overwhelm Spencer with a flurry of strikes to force a stoppage early on.

Nunes to win via TKO

Co-Main Event: Raphael Assuncao Vs. Cody Garbrandt

After their original scheduled matchup fell apart at the canceled UFC Columbus last March, the pairs’ bout was rescheduled for UFC 250. Garbrandt has been a stranger to the cage for more than a year and will be aiming to clear the cobwebs with a win. After losing back-to-back fights against T.J. Dillashaw, Cody took on Pedro Munhoz at UFC 235 which he suffered another loss.

While Garbrandt has seen early success in the UFC, the American has succumbed to defeats due to his overzealous fighting style. This forward and reckless approach has been the undoing of the 28-year-old American multiple times. As for Assuncao, the Brazilian is at the other end of his thirties and also is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time since 2010.

Raphael Assuncao enters this fight with a 27-7 record and has won nearly half his fights via decision. At almost 38, the Brazilian can’t afford another loss if he hopes to keep receiving big fight names. Assuncao is a seasoned fighter who possesses a strong striking game and has shown that he can finish a fight with one devastating punch.

Cody Garbrandt to win via TKO

Aljamain Sterling Vs. Cory Sandhagen

Aljamin Sterling is ready to lock horns with Cory Sandhagen in the bantamweight bout of the evening. Sterling has left no prisoners in his last four fights, beating Brett Johns, Cody Stamann, Jimmie Rivera and Pedro Munhoz to slingshot the bantamweight to a four-fight winning streak. Sterling’s record currently sits at 18-3 and the American will be gunning for another tally in the win section. Sterling’s a magnitude of tools at his disposal but his accurate striking is where he possesses the most danger.

Sandhagen enters this fight with a 12-1 record and is has won each of his seven last fights. Sandhagen is a bouncy fighter with dynamite in both of his fists and isn’t afraid to let his hands go once the chance arises. This fight has the potential to be the best fight on the card and be prepared for some aggressive styles on show. Both fighters have substantial amounts of energy and the fight is sure to have a few twists and turns.

Sterling to win via Unanimous Decision

Sean O’Malley Vs. Eddie Wineland

Sean O’Malley is preparing to do battle with Eddie Wineland this Saturday under the lights in Las Vegas. O’Malley might be encapsulated in controversy outside the ring, but he is a rising star within it. The American has a record of 11-0 with eight stoppages, including three wins as a member of the UFC. ‘Sugar’ returned to the ring after a two-year doping suspension at UFC 248, where he dispatched of Jose Alberto Quinonez in the first round by TKO.

O'Malley to win via TKO

Wineland, on the other hand, is a veteran in the sport, with a career fight card of 24-13-1. The 35-year-old’s most recent fight was in June, drubbing Grigory Popov. The Texas native was the inaugural WEC bantamweight champion but hasn’t fought for a belt since Renan Barao knocked him out.
